Extracts from the recent web chat with Paul Darrow are now up on the web site
(with kind permission of the BBC) and there's a link to the full version on the
beeb web site.

Other new additions are new con reports, more zine reviews, news items and
various other updatates.

If you look at the "what's new" section, it will tell you where to find
everything.

I'm more inclined to think that it's evolution of mass media and awareness
of the way it can be manipulated that has led to the sanitisation of
televised warfare. If any single conflict has had any significant impact,
it would probably be Vietnam. War correspondents enjoyed a freedom in
Vietnam that they have not in later conflicts (such as Desert Storm) because
of the way media coverage undermined home support for the war.

Iain, Steve, Alison and Kai have all made some very interesting
contributions on this topic. I did draft a reply (chiefly to Alison's
points) but it turned out to be extremely long and needs a lot of polishing,
so I won't post it just yet. I might put it up on my website some time
(having just told Judith that I probably couldn't write the essay on the
subject she was asking for).

He's in episodes 2-7, so anyone wanting to watch solely to see a very young
and pretty Pauly <evil grin> needn't bother with the first episode.

I can't recall which particular episodes he's in, so sit down, watch the rubber
dinosaurs and enjoy.

I believe Paul's in all the episodes except the last one. Yes, it's a giggle to
see him in uniform and so "nice." And he's so young.... what year was that?

Yes, he's very cure, isn't he? He salutes admirably as well - very Double
Rimmer. I believe it was 1970 when it was transmitted, so made in 1969?

She'll be in two of next year's Dr Who audio CDs:

The Fearmonger by Jonathan Blum, in February. The 7th Doctor and Ace are on
the trail of a monster that not only knows their every move but appears to
be able to anticipate their actions too. The head of the far right New
Brittania party survives an assassination attempt, but the Doctor suspects
there is far more to the affair than the failed slaying of a politician. As
he and Ace fight their way through the prejudices which blind everyone
touched by a very particular monster, they face the prospect of the entire
world being plunged into a bitter war of mistrust and mutual loathing...
(or so says the blurb). Jackie plays "Sherilyn Harper." Also starring Hugh
Walters ("Revelation of the Daleks," "The Deadly Assassin"), Vince
Henderson (Sophie Aldred's husband), Mark McDonnell, Mark Wright, Jonathan
Clarkson and Jack Gallagher.

Then in March, she shows up in The Marian Conspiracy by Jac Rayner. Stars
Colin Baker as the Sixth Doctor and introducing Maggie Stables as new
companion Evelyn Smythe, a tale that finds the Doctor and his new friend
traveling back to Tudor England. Dunno who Jackie plays this time...
